The ship is named after the famous Trollfjord, situated between the Vesterålen and the Lofoten Islands. Trollfjord is one of the highlights of the voyage south, and is famous locally for “The battle of the Trollfjord” which took place here in the winter of 1890. The ship has a very comfortable interior, with an extensive use of Norwegian wood and stone and authentic Scandinavian style.
MS Trollfjord´s maiden voyage was in 2002 and she is one of the top ships in the Hurtigruten fleet. Being MS Midnatsol´s sister ship, they share many of the same characteristics, such as the beautiful panorama lounge and suites. On board the ship you will discover original paintings by the Lofoten artist Kaare Espolin Johnsen, paintings that were originally on board the old Hurtigruten ship MS Harald Jarl.

In a unique and creative partnership with celebrity chef Andreas Viestad, Hurtigruten serves the bounty of Norway's fresh, local ingredients, along with the stories of the people and places that supply these special foods. Guests will be able to enjoy fresh Atlantic char that was delivered to the ship just a few hours before dinner service.
Hurtigruten's "Norway's Coastal Kitchen" reflects the true character of the country, giving guests a much more memorable and distinctive travel experience.
Hurtigruten operates a fleet of custom-built, hybrid vessels combining the attributes of a small cruise ship with the daily duties of transportation for locals and freight. This combination creates a unique blend of travel experiences woven into the rhythms of daily Norwegian coastal life. All ships depart from Bergen, in the South, on a daily schedule and make the full roundtrip up to Kirkenes, in the North, and back again in 11-nights/12-days. Guests can book The Voyage North for 6-nights/7-days, The Voyage South for 5-nights/6-days, The Norwegian Discovery for 10-nights/11-days or The Roundtrip Voyage for 11-nights/12-days. While some stops to the 34 ports are short for loading and unloading vehicles, freight and locals, other visits allow for unique seasonal shore excursions and sightseeing for travelers. Norwegian chefs use locally-sourced and seasonal meats, fish, cheeses and produce supplied along the route. Guests may book accommodations ranging from Inside to Suite category cabins.
